The Night Xavi Espart Broke Through: A Champions League Statement From FC Barcelona's Latest 2007 Pearl Against PSG
21.10.26, 13:30
FC Barcelona 2007 academy graduate Xavi Espart delivered a memorable performance on his first start in Europe’s premier club competition, capping it off with a goal and earning Hansi Flick’s explicit backing, which has been unwavering since his first minutes in the elite last season.
La Masia is the gift that keeps on giving, continuing to produce talent for FC Barcelona’s first team as part of an endless pipeline of talent. Yet some nights mark a turning point in a player’s career.
For Xavi Espart, that night now has a date and a setting. The young Vilassar de Mar native, who is enjoying a spectacular start to the season, made a major statement in his first UEFA Champions League start against none other than Paris Saint-Germain, one of the most formidable opponents in European football and the back-to-back rulers of club football's most coveted competition.
